The Indian Coast Guard evacuated an Indonesian mariner from MT Celosia off Haldia yesterday. On receipt of an SOS call from the ship, the Indian Coast Guard Regional HQ(NE) Kolkata directed one of its high speed crafts C 424 for medical evacuation.
MT Celosia, a Hong Kong flag ship was on its way from Vishakhapatnam to Haldia when its Chief Officer, Mr Anton Rumlawang, aged 57 years complained of severe pain on his shoulders accompanied by acute gastroenteritis. C 424 was sailed from Haldia with a medical team.
At about 1600 Hrs, C 424 arrived rendezvous point and helped shifting of patient on board Pilot Launch Rupasa, Thereafter medical aid was provided to the patient. At present the patient has been shifted to Woodlands Hospital Kolkata for expert medical management.
